Robin Hood’s Bay Coastguard Station

The Project

This project involved the complete external redecoration of a once dilapidated old Coastguard Station on the North Yorkshire Coast. The project presented a few challenges, especially access issues over the rock beach. This was overcome by the use of a full suspended scaffold. However, with a new exterior, the building, now a National Trust Visitor Centre, has been given a new lease of life and stands proud by the sea.

Specification

Before painting could commence, all surfaces had to be thoroughly cleaned-down to remove all dirt, grease, surface contaminants and old limewash coatings. The limewash was renewed on the walls and the woodwork was painted using a Sikkens Rubbol System.
