Case Study - Education

York St. Johns University
Student Union Building

York St John University is a historical university situated just outside the mediaeval walls of York.

Project description

We were contracted by Hall Construction to carry out the full internal decoration of the Student Union Building which included an office accommodation suite (Phase 1) and a Student Union Bar, Lounge and entrance staircase (Phase 2). The project was carried out under a challenging programme over the student’s Summer holidays. Most of the papering was hung outside of normal working hours to give our paperhangers more space to work and lay out the bespoke made wallcoverings (which had lengths of up to 7 metres high!)

Specification

The client’s architects chose striking wallpapers on various walls to create a chic-industrial look which was complimented by contemporary fittings and furniture. We hung brick effect and concrete effect wallpapers which were made to measure for this very individual project. The 2 no entrance staircases and foyers were painted bright white to create a dramatic entrance to both the Bar the Lounge.
